Technology for collaborative learning in innovation teams

Description workpackage 2

This WP addresses how collaboration evolves in teams within learning communities, and how to give effective feedback on this process. We aim to 1) find patterns -encompassing both behavioral and linguistic aspects- related to engagement and transactivity, and 2) how to automatically assess these patterns for the purposes real-time feedback.

To enhance effective collaboration within LCs, we need to acquire more insights into group dynamics within smaller teams in which the participants engage in sharing and co-construction of knowledge. Understanding these dynamics is essential for integrating as many perspectives, voices and insights already present in a team. Therefore, we focus on effectively activiting all members (engagement), as well as the interlinking of members ideas that potentially lead to co-construction of new knowledge (transactivity). Insights will be used to design tools for feedback, ideally to be employed for real-time analysis and feedback on collaborative processes within the teams

Expected insights & Outputs

We will identify metrics that are crucial in capturing effective team communication. These metrics will be the main building blocks for feedback tools which will subsequently be tested and employed within LC teams. Our output will be in the forms of papers, tools and guidelines.
